The rear roller should be free to turn in both directions, pull and push (if the bale bar lever on the handlebars is released).
Usually, on a new machine, it fails to free-roll only because the cable for the roller drive is not sitting in its grommet on the drive case because the cable clips are not fitted.
Also, something could be pulling on the lower cable causing the belt drive to pre-engage.
