Why is my mower leaving uncut strips?

There are a few reasons you may be left with uncut strips:

1.Blades not set correctly or damage to blades from a stone. Tip the mower back on its handlebars so that you can clearly see underneath. Do the paper test to see how its cutting and whether you can work out whether the position of the strip corresponds with the mower blades on cutting. Adjust the blade, backlap the blades or have the blades sharpened by you local Allett Service dealer.

2.Deep thatch. If your lawn is really springy and there is a deep build-up of thatch (the organic layer between the soil and the grass plants which any healthy lawn produces) then the mower can ‘float’ and ’list’ to one side causing an uneven cut. Get your scarifier, verticut and dethatcher cartridges to work and start cultivating your lawn gently and regularly while the moisture and temperatures are conducive to growth and recovery. By removing the thatch over time, your lawn will become healthier and easier to manage with better mowing results.
